Chapter 5:

"Kat your mom and I would like to talk to you. Do you have a minute?" Jack asked his daughter.

"Uh sure dad," Kat really didn't want to sit in the same room with her parents.

Having them looking at her with those sad helpless eyes seemed to make things worse. She sat down on the couch as her dad paced the floor.

"Dad can you make this quick? I have a lot to do this morning," stated Kat.

"Ok honey, your mom and I just thought maybe we should talk about things, and about what the doctors said yesterday." Jack said.

"Listen," Kat began, "I really don't feel like talking about this right now," Kat got up and walked out of the room.

Diana heard Ike and Zac talking in the upstairs hallway.

"Ike can you come in here for a second, please?" Diana asked.

"Can it wait a few minutes mom? I have to get this done." he answered her.

Ike grabbed his history book and sits down at the table. Just then, Diana walks in the room, handing Ike a piece of paper. Ike takes the paper and reads it to himself,

"Please excuse Clarke Isaac Hanson from school. He needs to be with a friend today."

Signed Diana Hanson.

Ike looked up from the note and hugged his mom. "Thanks Mom," Ike said as he kissed his mom on the cheek.

Chapter 6:

Heading out the back door, Kat grabbed her coat. Walking down the street she lived all her life, all of a sudden a flood of emotions hit Kat. Thoughts of all the good times she had here made things seem even worse.

"I don't want to die" Kat whispered to herself.

Tears began to fall once again. Then, Kat remembered a certain place that she could go and things would some how seem better.

Ike hung up the phone with Mrs. Martin.

"I wonder where she could be?" Ike wondered out loud.

"Tay, have you seen the car keys?" he yelled down stairs to his brother, who was down in the music room reading a magazine.

"Nope, haven't seen them sorry." Tay said.

"Well, can you help me look for them?" Ike said almost in a panic.

"Hey don't have a melt down Ike! We'll find them," Taylor said, searching the bedroom as Ike looked in the kitchen.

"Ike, I know this is gonna sound dumb, but did you bring them in?" Tay asked.

"I'm not that stupid...Well, hang on let me go outside and check," Ike moaned.

"Hey Tay, I found them!" Ike yelled from the front seat of the car.

"Where you going?" Tay asked.

"To look for Kat. Do you want to come with?" Ike asked Taylor.

"I'd love to, but I have a report due, and well...You know." Taylor looked at his brother as he was backing out of the driveway.

"Geez, I wonder how he got out of class today," Taylor wondered.
