Chapter 39:
Kat was bored and put on her favorite CD and laid back. Soon she was drifting off to sleep. Kat began dreaming about a tree house she, Ike and Tay built when they were 10 years old.
It’s to high Ike!!
Come on I won’t let you fall
Help me please
Kat give me your hand I will pull you up
I almost got your hand, I got it now hang on
Ike I am afraid
Kat your slipping hang on tighter
Don’t let me fall Ike
I will never let you fall or get hurt I promise.
Kat’s eyes were full of tears when she awoke from her dream. Ike had been flipping through a magazine when he noticed that she was awake.
“Hey what’s the matter” Ike said hugging her.
“Ike I had the worest dream” she told him.
“Wanna talk about it” he asked her.
“Remember the tree house, I had a dream that I couldn’t make it up to the top and you said you wouldn’t let me fall” she said crying.
“I feel like I’m falling and no one can save me” Kat explained to me.
“I will never let you fall, Kat I promise” Ike said.
Ike had a box he had brought with him to give to Kat. “I bought you a gift in New York, would you like to open it now.”
“That’ll be great” she said with a smile.
Handing her a box, Ike’s heart was racing “I hope she likes it” he thought to himself.
Kat opened the box and sat speechless with tears forming in her eyes. She leaned over and hugged her best friend.
Ike was glad she liked the gift. He kissed her on the cheek.
Chapter 40:
Standing in front of their bathroom mirror Ike stood looking at his reflection as he flashed a smile.
Taylor walked passed the door a caught a glimpse of Ike’s mouth opening and closing.
“Hey brace face, today you become a free man.” Tay joked.
“Yup these babies are off in less than 2 hours” Ike looked one more time in the mirror.
Zac entered the hallway with Zoe. “Come on cutie.” He said to his youngest sister.
Zac walked passed the bathroom where he noticed his brothers standing looking in the mirror.
“Hey guys what are you looking at?” he questioned.
“Ike becomes braceless today.” Tay answered as he reached for Zoe.
“Oh right, metal mouth becomes naked teeth boy today.” Zac laughed.
“You guys think I will look different?” Ike asked.
“Yeah I think you better bring a paper bag to cover your face.” Zac smiled.
“Come on sweetie pie let’s get outta here before it gets even uglier” Tay laughed as he and Zoe left the bathroom.
Ike made one last glimpse in the mirror before he walked out of the bathroom.
Kat had been getting sick more and more the last few days.
“Mom” Kat called for her mom in a weak voice.
“Kat honey what is it” Sarah entered Kat’s room.
Kat was in a ball in the middle of her bed. “Mom I am so cold” she was shaking.
“Jack” Sarah yelled for her husband. Jack rushed into Kat’s room.
“Jack she is burning up, call the doctor.” Sarah said in a panic.
Sarah held Kat not sure what was causing her high fever.
“Don’t you worry honey, daddy is calling the doctor.” Sarah said as she touched Kat's face.
“They want us to bring her into the Emergency Room right away” Jack said as he returned to Kat’s room.
“Ok can you call Diana and let her know for me” Sarah asked.
