Chapter 11:
The table in the room was very cold as Kat sat there waiting for Dr. Alexander to come in.
Ike and Jack sat out in the waiting room looking at the clock and pretending to read magazines.
"Ms. Martin, I'm Dr. Alexander" the doctor shook her hand.
"Hello" Kat said in a small voice.
Dr. Alexander turned and greeted Sarah who was sitting next to the table.
"Well today we need to do a Positron Emission Tomography(PET) test and we should know all we need to know than we can move forward." Dr. Alexander sat down and began going over the procedure with Kat and what she should expect.
Kat sat listening to every word but not sure what they all meant.
Kat glanced over to her mother with a frightened look in her eyes. All Sarah could do was give her daughter a small smile to let her know it would be ok.
Grabbing the phone Tay dialed Ike's pager number.
"I hope he is wearing it" Zac said.
"Yeah me too" Tay said.
"We just have to sit here and wait for him to call us" Zac said.
Minutes later the phone rang and Tay and Zac both reached for the phone at the same time knocking it over.
"Hello" they could hear Ike saying over and over.
Picking up the phone Tay finally answers "Ike, hey man. Uh how you doing?" Tay mumbled not sure what to say next.
"Tay what do you want" Ike asked.
"Well Zac and I were wondering how things are going, is anything wrong with Kat?" Tay asked.
"I really can't go into it right now Tay, I have to go, I'll explain it to you tonight when we get home, ok" Ike said.
"Ok we are just worried" Tay said.
"I know but I can't go into over the phone right now." Ike stated again and he hung up the phone.
Millions of questions started to race in Taylor's head.
"What did he say?" Zac asked.
"Nothing, he said he would talk to us about everything tonight" Tay explained.
Chapter 12:
Kat's arm hurt from being poked with a needle so that blood could be drawn for the millionth time. Today the test seem to be more draining on Kat.
"Ok Kat you can get dressed now, the PET test should give us what were looking for, we will call you in the next day or so" Dr. Alexander stated.
Sarah helped Kat put her sweater on.
"I am so proud of how brave you are acting" her mother said.
"I know this so scary for you sweetheart" Sarah gave Kat a gentle hug.
Kat just smiled.
Ike about leaped out of his seat when Kat came out into the hallway.
"Oh Kat" Ike sighed.
"Here, let me help you" he took her arm placing over his shoulder.
Ike listened to Sarah explain to Jack the procedure as they walked out to the car.
"Walker can you put out the dinner plates" asked Diana.
"Sure" Walker replied.
"I already fed the younger children" Diana informed her husband.
Walker tried to figure out how many plates to set out. Walker took out eight plates of the cupboard and turned to Diana.
"Where are Taylor and Zac at?"
"Oh Taylor is downstairs watching a video with Jess and Mackie, and I think Zac is outside in the back working on an art project" Diana replied.
Diana and Walker finished the dinner arrangements just as the phone rang.
"Oh Walker can you get that please" Diana asked.
Picking up the phone Walker answered "Hello Hanson residence."
"Jack how are you?" Walker asked.
"Ok sure, I will tell Diana" Walker said as he hung up the phone.
"Jack said they should be here in about 10 minutes" Walker told Diana.
