Chapter 51:

"Life Flight can't get us out of here until around 10 p.m." Jack explained to everyone.

"I thought everything was all set to go." Sarah questioned.

"There was an emergency and we got bumped back." Jack stated.

"Maybe we should wait until morning then, I wouldn't feel safe flying during the night with the snow falling." Sarah said.

"Let me go make some phone calls and I will see what we can do." Jack told her.

Diana walked into the hospital that evening with an uneasy feeling in her stomach.

"Hi there sweetheart." Diana bent down and kissed Kat on the cheek.

"Has the doctor been in here lately?" Diana asked Sarah.

"Not for the last hour or so. Why is something wrong?" she asked.

"I just have a real strange feeling." She answered.

"Jack said that Life Flight has to bump us until late tonight. I told him to see if we could leave in the morning." Sarah informed her.

"I'll call Walker to see if we can change our flight to the morning also." Diana said as she dialed their number.

"While your doing that I'll give the boys a call" Sarah suggested.

"That'll be perfect, thank you." Diana smiled.

Shaking off the fallen snow Zac looked around the kitchen, "Hey where are you guys."

Shouting from the hallway Tay spoke up. "In here Zac."

"Where's Ike at?" Zac asked.

"Um I think he got a phone call." Tay said as he walked in the kitchen.

"I'm starved." Taylor said looking through the refrigerator.

Ike had just gotten off the phone with Mrs. Martin. "They won't be here tonight."

"Why not?" Asked Taylor and Zac.

"The flight to bring Kat out here had some emergency that it had to deal with first." Ike said repeating what Mrs. Martin has just told him.

"Well let's go get the tree and get it set up, than we should be done pretty much." Ike said looking for the car keys.

"Let's go" he said as he grabbed the keys and headed out the door.

"So much for getting that sandwich." Tay said closing the refrigerator and running out to claim his seat in the car.

"No way, Jordan" Zac shouted.

"Come on Zac move it." Taylor said pulling at Zac's coat.

"You snooze you loose man." Zac said hanging on to the door handle.

Pouting a little Taylor gives up the fight for the front seat. "I can't wait until I can drive." He said closing the car door.

With everyone in the car the three headed in town to pick out a perfect Christmas tree for the family.

Chapter 52:

Arriving just outside of town Ike, Tay and Zac decided that Farris McBuelers Tree farm would be the best place to get the tree from.

"Hello" Ike said looking for someone to help them.

"Doesn't look like anyone is here." Taylor whispered.

Just as the three were about to leave a young man emgered from the back room. "Can I help you boys." He said moving closer to the countertop.

"Um yes sir, hi we are looking for a Christmas tree." Tay said taking a step back.

"Well you've come to the right place. Where is it you boys are from ." he questioned.

"Oklahoma." Ike replied.

"Tulsa, Oklahoma to be exact" Zac chimed in.

"Uh huh, I thought you looked familiar. You're those Hanson boys." Farris said rubbing his chin.

"Sir, I don't mean to be rude but we have to get this tree ready for out friends and family." Ike explained.

"Follow me than, I have the perfect tree for you and your family." Mr. McBueler said walking out the door.

"That was very creepy." Zac stated once they had the tree loaded on top of the car.

"Tell me about it. Weird indeed." Taylor agreed.

"I wanna stop at the store to get something real quick." Ike said.

"Good" Taylor smiled at the thought of seeing Haley run into Zac once again.

At the hospital Jack had made arrangements for the flight to leave first thing in the morning.

"We've got Walker and the children booked to leave at 9:15 a.m." Diana informed them.

"Dr. Alexander said she is going to run a few more test since we will be here until morning." Sarah told Diana.

"That poor girl has been through enough already." Diana sadly looked in Kat's direction.

They watched as Kat was being wheeled out the door to endure more testing.

"These are the last set of test they are going to be doing" Sarah told Diana.

"What are these test going to tell you." Diana questioned.

"It'll give us some insight into how far the cancer has spread and if the medicine is having any affect on her system." Sarah said looking at the floor.

Jack touched Sarah on the shoulder. "These test make her so weak, she is trying so hard to stay alert."

"I sat with her yesterday and we talked for a bit, I noticed she has been in and out a lot more the last few days." Diana stated.

"They doctor said it has a lot to do with the pain medicine she is on. Without that she would be in so much pain." Jack explained.

"She is so brave and so strong. I want to trade places with her." Sarah broke down and began to cry.

Reaching for Sarah's hand Diana to began to cry. "I think anyone of us would do that."

Jack had called for Father O'Riley to come in and say a few words with the family before they left for the cabin in the morning.

The nurse was wheeling Kat back into her room when Father O'Riley arrived to greet the family.

"How are we today Ms. Kat" he asked kissing her forehead.

Father O'Riley had been like a member of their family for 22 years. He would help the family through this hard time.

"Dear Lord, please surround us with your love…"he began his prayer with the family.
