Chapter 31:
“We should have the results before the end of the day” Dr. Alexander told Sarah and Jack.
“How do things look so far?” Sarah asked.
“Well let’s cross those bridges when we come to them.” the doctor said.
“If Kat feels up to it we could be releasing her in the next day or so” Dr. Alexander told them.
“Oh that would be great” said Jack.
(Dr. Alexander please report to the Emergency Room).
“I’m sorry, I have to go take care of this, I will let you know as soon as I know about the results” she said as she left the room.
“Well let’s go tell Kat the good news” Sarah smiled.
“That’s great, I will tell everyone the good news” Ike hung up the phone. Running through the Hanson house Ike tried to locate his brothers to give the news about Kat coming home soon.
Finding Zac in the family room Ike asks where Taylor is “Zac have you seen Tay?”
“Tay, let me see is he about this high, blonde hair, blue eyes?..you mean that Tay?” Zac said standing up from the video game.
“I seen him, as a matter of fact I see him now” Zac said as Ike turned around.
“Boo” Taylor said laughing as Ike jumped back.
“Man don’t sneak up on a guy like that” Ike yelled at his brother.
“What did you wet yourself?” Tay said as he ran for cover.
“Kiss my, oh never mind” Ike said. “I wanted to let you guys know that Kat might get to come in the next day or so” he said as he headed for the door.
“Wait a sec there Ike, I’m sorry come back, I love ya man really” Tay said smiling as he followed Ike into the kitchen.
“So what did the doctor say? Is everything gonna be ok than?” Zac asked.
“They don’t know yet, I guess the results will be back later today” Ike informed them.
“It must look good enough for her to get to come home and all” Tay said.
Dr. Alexander made a few phone calls, she wanted to make sure what she had in her hands was correct.
Dr. Alexander found Jack walking down the hallway outside of Kat’s room.
“Oh good she has been asking when can she check out” Jack informed the doctor.
“Mr. Martin is your wife here with you today?” she asked
“Yes, why did you find something in the results?” Jack felt a sinking feeling in his stomach.
“There is a conference room on the west wing of the hospital, why don’t you and your wife meet me there in 20 minutes.” Dr. Alexander said putting her handing on his shoulder.
Jack stood there in shock not knowing what to do. He went back into the hospital room where Kat and Sarah were talking.
“Oh honey don’t worry about it, it’s only hair we can get you a wig” Sarah kissed her daughter.
“Daddy when am I going to paroled?” Kat smiled at her father.
“Sweetie your mom and I have to go fill out some forms and I will talk to the doctor about it, ok” Jack voice cracked.
Ike, Tay, Zac and Diana were in the elevator headed for Kat’s room.
“Hey mom? Do you think it would be ok if we made plans for Christmas at Grandma and Grandpas cabin” Taylor waited for his mother to reply.
“Taylor Christmas isn’t for a few months, let’s talk about it later, ok sweetie.” Diana looked at her sons faces.
“Ok why don’t we ask dad how he feels, and we also have to make sure Kat is going to be up for that” she informed them.
The four of them made their way into Kat’s room.
“Hi ya Kat” Zac said
“When do you get out of this place” Taylor asked.
“Well my parents went to fill out some forms” Kat informed them.
“Kat guess what? Mom said we might be able to go to the cabin for Christmas this year” Ike said.
“Oh I would love that, we haven’t been up there in along time. Kat flashed a huge smile.
“I said we would talk about it Isaac” turning to Kat Diana “honey I want to make sure everything is alright before we make any plans” Diana smiled a motherly smile at her.
“It doesn’t matter, no matter what you guys have to promise me we will spend Christmas with snow , a roaring fire, a Christmas tree as tall as the sky and that we are all together” Kat said with a tear streaming down her cheek.
Hugging her Diana whispered to Kat “We promise.”
